Biblical Wisdom for Lasting Peace and Everyday Self-Care
What if connecting to ancient wisdom could make modern stress relief simpler than you think? The Oils of Ancient Scripture collection draws from biblical references to balms, ointments, spices, perfumes, and sweet savors. These ten essential oils—Cassia, Cedarwood, Cistus, Cypress, Frankincense, Hyssop, Myrrh, Myrtle, Onycha, and Sacred Sandalwood—have been cherished for centuries and are found throughout the scriptures.
Today, they offer grounded support for feelings of heightened awareness during prayer and meditation while helping you create calmer, more peaceful days.
Small shifts add up. When wellness feels overwhelming, these timeless aromas invite you to give yourself room to breathe and return to what truly matters: presence, wholeness, and connection.
Before we dive in, do you have a favorite reference to this from scripture? The most common known were brought to Jesus by the wisemen: Frankincense and Myrrh.
The Power of Ancient Oils in Modern Life
The Bible mentions essential oils and plant extracts hundreds of times. They were used for anointing, cleansing, burial, and daily fragrance. Modern life brings its own pressures—racing minds, restless nights, and the constant pull of family and work. Turning to these same oils can feel like a natural extension of self-care for vibrant health.
Each oil carries unique properties that support your body’s natural rhythms.
- Cassia, a warm and powerful oil mentioned in texts dating back 1700 years, encourages healthy immune, digestive, and circulatory function. Because it is considered a “hot” oil, dilution is recommended for comfortable use.
- Cedarwood, the wood Solomon chose for God’s temple, contains the highest percentage of sesquiterpenes of any essential oil. It helps maintain mental clarity and offers steady mood support—ideal when you need focus without feeling wired.
- Cistus, also known as Rose of Sharon, encourages healthy skin cell function and supports both immune and cardiovascular wellness. Its gentle, grounding aroma pairs beautifully with prayerful pauses.
- Cypress is known for its remarkable durability; the cypress doors of St. Peter’s Basilica have stood for twelve centuries. This oil promotes proper circulation and immune support while offering a fresh, forest-like scent that many find uplifting during leg massages or evening wind-downs. This is also a favorite for lung support!
- Frankincense, the second most frequently mentioned oil in Scripture, was brought to the Christ child and used for newborn kings and priests. Its rich, resinous aroma is widely diffused during meditation for grounding and a renewed sense of purpose.
- Hyssop was offered to Jesus on the cross and used by the Israelites to mark their doorposts. It aids the body’s natural response to irritation while delivering cleansing and purifying properties that feel especially supportive during seasonal transitions.
- Myrrh reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and helps prolong the scent of other oils. Its soothing qualities make it a favorite addition to lotions or nightly skincare rituals.
- Myrtle supports overall well-being and encourages healthy nasal, lung, and endocrine function, including gentle thyroid support. Many appreciate its fresh aroma for maintaining steady energy throughout the day. This was one of my favorites as I went through a later-in-life hormonal crisis.
- Onycha offers comforting and soothing properties that provide nervous-system support during stressful seasons. It also helps maintain the appearance of healthy, youthful skin.
- Sacred Sandalwood (Aloes) contains 90 percent sesquiterpenes and supports normal hormonal function and overall well-being. Like Myrrh, it promotes smooth, toned-looking skin and blends seamlessly into daily self-care.
As Revelation 22:2 reminds us, “The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.” These oils continue to offer their gifts across generations.
A Simple Daily Ritual for Presence and Peace
If you want to experience these oils in a meaningful way, try the Goldendrops Protocol. Begin by taking a few deep breaths to calm your mind and ground yourself. Then, as you apply each oil one at a time, speak the affirmation: “I am present, I am whole, I am connected.” Move intuitively—there is no perfect order. Let the practice unfold gently.
This ritual takes only a few minutes yet creates space for both spiritual connection and physical relaxation. Many women balancing work and family find that it becomes a steady anchor that supports better sleep and steadier energy.
Take It With You: Goldendrops Roll-On (or Dropper Bottle)
For on-the-go support, create a Goldendrops Roll-On or Dropper Bottle. Add five drops of each oil from the Oils of Ancient Scripture collection into a 5 ml roll-on bottle, top with your favorite carrier oil, and roll on intuitively while repeating “I am present. I am whole. I am connected.”
Keep the bottle in your bag, on your nightstand, or at your desk. The portable format makes it easy to pause for a quick reset during busy days—another small shift that adds up to lasting peace.
Real-Life Wellness That Honors Your Faith and Your Family
You do not need to overhaul your entire routine to feel the benefits. A few intentional breaths, a simple affirmation, and the aroma of these sacred oils can help you move through the day with greater calm. When wellness feels overwhelming, this is for you: real-life practices that support both your spirit and your body without adding pressure.
Ready to begin your own journey toward calmer days and deeper peace?
Over time, these moments of connection may help you sleep more soundly, respond to your children with greater patience, and notice steadier energy as you move through work and home responsibilities.
